Winter Juried Show 2015 Prospectus:

Entry is open to all artists. Duxbury Art Association (DAA) membership is not required

CATEGORIES

• Oil & Acrylic

• Watercolor

• Drawing & Pastel

• Sculpture/3D

• Printmaking

• Mixed Media

• Photography

• Altered Digital Photography

Work must be original, completed within the last three years, and not previously exhibited in any DAA show. All work must be properly framed or gallery wrapped (no clip-on frames or saw tooth hooks) and ready for hanging with a wire. No wet paint, please! Sculpture must be accompanied by a gallery worthy pedestal.

SIZE:  The only size limitation is that all work must be able to fit into a standard elevator.  Artists should plan on delivering/carrying work themselves or bring helpers.  Extra volunteers may not be on hand to help with transportation.

PAPERWORK:  All paperwork is available at registration.  We do not have registration forms and results post cards available online to be filled out beforehand.  Please plan your schedule accordingly.

AWARDS

Prize money will be awarded as follows: one $500 for Best in Show and $150 for first place in each of the eight categories. Ribbons will be awarded for first, second and third place in each category. If there are not sufficient entries in a specific category, prizes will not be awarded in that area. The Award Ceremony will take place at 7:30pm on Saturday, February 7, 2015.   All accepted artists are given one ticket for the Benefit Opening Reception.

VOLUNTEERS

JUDGES:

The panel of jurors will be announced by the end of December 2014.

 

LIABILITY

The DAA’s trained volunteers will handle all artwork with due care; however, we cannot be responsible for loss or damage. The DAA will not be responsible for work not removed at the times indicated. We allow photography of the exhibition. Entry at registration indicates acceptance of all the above conditions. The DAA may require artists to move artwork to ensure proper handling.

Registration & artwork drop off is at the Duxbury Art Association.

Artists will be notified of acceptance status by self-addressed postcard completed at registration. Jurying will take place on Saturday, January 17, 2015. Results postcards will be mailed on Tuesday, January 20, 2015.

FEES:

Registration fees:  $15 for one entry, $20 for two entries, $30 for three, etc.

Artists may enter as many pieces as he/she wishes; however, only one piece per artist will be accepted into the show.

The DAA retains a 40% commission on all work sold.

ARTWORK PICK- UP:

Artwork not selected for the show must be picked up as follows:

Sculpture/3D: Sunday, January 18, 10am – 1pm at the Ellison Center for the Arts.

Fine Art: Friday, January 23, 10am – 4pm at the Ellison Center for the Arts, and Saturday, January 24, 10am – 12 pm at the Ellison Center for the Arts. After January 25, a storage fee of $5 per piece, per day will be charged for all artwork. Artwork left over 30 days will become the property of the Duxbury Art Association. If someone other than the artist will be picking up the artwork, a written permission slip from the artist is required. Under no circumstances may artwork be removed from the show before the close of the show in April 26, 2015.

Everyone is invited to attend this festive evening featuring gourmet hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and music. Accepted artists will be given one (1) complimentary ticket, held at the door. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $25.00 at the DAA office or thru eventbrite beginning in January until midnight Feb 6th. Tickets will also be available at the door for $35.00. MasterCard & Visa accepted.
