DAA would like to congratulate all artists who participated in this year’s Winter Juried Show. We had an outstanding collection of artists represented with ~400 pieces of work  to jury.
If your art was not selected for this year’s show we would like to remind artists that pick up time are January 20th, from 10am-4pm and January 21st, 10am-12pm. Please bring your pink receipt or a permission slip if you are picking up art for a someone other than yourself. Pick up is at the Ellison Center for the Arts, 64 St. George St.
*After January 21st, there is a $5/per day storage fee for art not picked up. Artwork left over 30 days becomes property of DAA. Click here for a list of accepted artwork.

Any artists wanting to hang artwork (not selected for WJS 2017) may register those pieces to be included in the Second Chance Show. The Second Chance Show will run from February 1st until April 7th/8th in the gallery at the Ellison Center.   Space is limited therefore artwork will be selected on a first come, serve basis.
Please register your artwork with a Liz Queeny during artwork pick up times.

WINTER JURIED SHOW 2017 PROSPECTUS

Entry is open to all artists. Duxbury Art Association (DAA) membership is not required.

CATEGORIES

  • Oil & Acrylic

REQUIREMENTS:

Work must be original, completed within the last five years, and not previously exhibited in any DAA show. All work must be properly framed or gallery wrapped (no clip-on frames or saw tooth hooks) and ready for hanging with a wire. No wet paint, please!

 Size:  The only size limitation is that all work must be able to fit into a standard elevator.  Artists should plan on delivering/carrying work themselves or bring helpers.  Extra volunteers may not be on hand to help with transportation.

Paperwork:  All paperwork is available at registration.  We do not have registration forms and results post cards available online to be filled out beforehand.  Please plan your schedule accordingly.

Wires:  We’ll remind again:  All work must be properly framed or gallery wrapped (no clip-on frames or saw tooth hooks) and ready for hanging with a wire.

Sculpture: Sculpture must be accompanied by a gallery worthy pedestal to ensure that the Juror can view submitted work at the appropriate height. Should the work be accepted, curators may substitute pedestal at the Art Complex Gallery.

AWARDS:

Prize money will be awarded as follows: one $750 for Best in Show and $200 for first place in each of the eight categories. Ribbons will be awarded for first, second and third place in each category. If there are not sufficient entries in a specific category, prizes will not be awarded in that area. The Award Ceremony at the Closing Reception date will be announced in 2017. All accepted artists are given one(1) ticket for them to attend the Closing Reception.

REGISTRATION:

Registration & artwork drop off is at the Duxbury Art Association.

Artists will be notified of acceptance status by self-addressed postcard completed at registration. Jurying will take place on Saturday, January 14, 2017. Results postcards will be mailed on Tuesday, January 17, 2017.

FEES:

Pricing structure for registration fees:

Current 2016/2017 DAA Members: $15 for up to three (3) entries; $20 for four, (4), entries; $25 for five, (5), entries; etc.

Non-Members: $25 for up to three (3) entries; $35 for four, (4), entries; $45 for five, (5), entries; etc.

Membership may be renewed at registration. (DAA Membership year runs from June 1 to May 31. Senior, over 65 & Student, under 21; membership fee is $25; Individual membership fee is $35, Family covers all residents at one address membership fee is $50.)

Artists may enter as many pieces as he/she wishes; however, only one piece per artist will be accepted into the show.

The DAA retains a 25% commission on all work sold. Work need not be for sale.

ARTWORK PICK- UP

Artwork not selected for the show must be picked up as follows:

Sculpture/3D: Sunday, January 15, 10am – 1pm at the Ellison Center for the Arts. If someone other than the artist will be picking up the artwork, a written permission slip from the artist is required.

Fine Art: Friday, January 20, 10am – 4pm at the Ellison Center for the Arts, and Saturday, January 21, 10am – 12 pm at the Ellison Center for the Arts. After January 21, a storage fee of $5 per piece, per day will be charged for all artwork. Artwork left over 30 days will become the property of the Duxbury Art Association. If someone other than the artist will be picking up the artwork, a written permission slip from the artist is required.

WJS SHOW DATES:

Sunday, February 5 – Sunday, April 23, 2017.

Under no circumstances may artwork be removed from the show before the close of the show in April 23, 2017.

ARTWORK PICK UP FROM THE ART COMPLEX MUSEUM

Sunday, April 23 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the Art Complex Museum. Please plan accordingly.

CLOSING RECEPTION:

Date & details to be announced in 2017.

LIABILITY:

The DAA’s trained volunteers will handle all artwork with due care; however, we cannot be responsible for loss or damage. The DAA will not be responsible for work not removed at the times indicated. We allow photography of the exhibition. Entry at registration indicates acceptance of all of the above conditions. The DAA may require artists to move/transport their artwork to ensure proper handling.
